Artist Statement
I'm Tom O'Connell and I am a junior in high school. I learned how to work the basics of a camera from helping my mom with her online selling business and it led me to being interested in the art of photography. Since she mostly sells old things, I grew to like the subject of old and rusty things in my photos. This year, I took a photography class this year because I thought it would be useful to know how to take pictures that stood out from others as well as help improve the quality of my mom's pictures for her store. So far this year, I have learned the foundations of taking pictures and have already seen and improvement in the way the pictures appear. In the future, I know that my career will most likely not associate closely with art or photography. However, the lessons that will be learned in this class will be instinctive in achieving a certain aesthetic in any photograph I take with any sort of camera.
